Miami has a justifiable reputation as a city that simply ha sit all, surf, sea, sand and some of the most pulsating nightlife in the United States. And this has made it a favorite with holidaymakers not only from the U.S., but from all over the world. The iconic beachfront buildings with their Art Deco architecture and the bars which line the strip make any trip to this part of the city a highlight for anyone who is going to be visiting.

However, aside from the that famed nightlife and excellent cuisine – the main attraction for many people who visit Miami is without doubt the beaches.

So if you are going to be visiting this playground of a city which beaches should you be focusing on?

For those who want to sample some of Miami’s well known cocktails and also want to get a taste of rum a trip to Hollywood Beach is a must. A great boardwalk leads past the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort where the cocktails are cold and the welcome is warm. For those who have worked up an appetite for something more substantial the Le tub will blow you away with their many culinary offerings – but make sure to try the Sirloinburger – GQ voted it the best burger in town.

For those who want to enjoy a beach barbecue with a view of waving palms and white sands Crandon Park is a fabulous choice. Ample parking leading down to the beach and a scenic boardwalk for those who want to do a bit of exploring round off the attractions of this picture perfect beach.

For those who want to enjoy the salt water but don’t feel like braving the surf
Matheson Hammock Park Beach is perfect. It is at the edge of a man made ‘atoll style’ pool which is kept refreshed by tidal action.

For a laid back ambiance and a quiet experience those in search of calm will want to visit Surfside. This area still retains the feeling of a neighborhood where everyone is on a first name basis. If you are in town on the first Friday of the month this is the beach that you want to be at – there is a beach picnic where music and family orientated fun activities are staged.

If you are in Miami then don’t miss your chance to visit the beach – go and get your feet wet.
